Alexander Wise

Mr. Alexander Wise, 67, was the son of Minnie B. Allen and the late Frank Gortman.  He was born October 30, 1950 in Lexington County, South Carolina, the youngest of 15.  He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at his home in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina.

Affectionately known as “Moochie”, Alexander was educated in the public schools of Lexington County, South Carolina, graduating from Twin City High School, Batesburg-Leesville.  At an early age, he joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he was a lifelong member. 

Alexander was employed by J.B. Martin Co. for over 30 years.  He enjoyed being outside, building things and mowing the grass.  He was a faithful husband and loving father to his daughters and two grandchildren.  He was a strong, independent man who loved helping others. 

Those left to cherish his precious memories include:  his loving wife – Barbara Wise of the home; his mother – Minnie B. Allen of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; two daughters – LaToya Baston and Miranda Wise, both of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; two grandchildren – Leia and Logan Wise, both of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; three God-children – Clifford Jennings of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Shannon (Niketa) Wise of Odenton, Maryland and Victoria (Michael) Leaphart of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; one sister – Lena Gortman of New York, New York; three sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
