Donald Leaphart

Donald Russell Leaphart, 57, son of the late Preston Alphonso and Annie Leaphart, was born April 12, 1961 in Lexington County, South Carolina.  He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in Lexington, South Carolina. 

Donald received his education in the schools of Lexington County District 1.  He was a member of New Hope CME Church where he attended Sunday school and was an avid participant in class.  He also served on the trustee board and was a Lay Leader. 

Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed sports, especially football.  He was a devoted employee of SCANA Corporation.  He was gifted with a green thumb and enjoyed gardening.  He loved traveling with his family.

Donald was preceded in death by both of his parents, one sister, Gloria Lavington and one brother, David Leaphart.

He leaves to cherish his memories and celebrate his life:  his loving wife of over 35 years – Dr. Loretta Leaphart; children – Brittany, Bryant and Brantley Leaphart; a grandson – Bryson Leaphart; daughter-in-law – Erica Leaphart; mother-in-law – Doreatha M. Jones; five sisters – Annie Johnson, Alzalee Wise, Shirley Ferguson, Sylvia Leaphart and Tammy Miller; three brothers – Frank James, Timothy Leaphart and Prenton Charlie Leaphart; four sisters-in-law – Jackie Abney, Joyce Gary, Germaine Joseph and Emma James; five brothers-in-law – Leo Abney, Larry Gary, Jean Joseph, Joe Wise and Vernon McDaniels; three aunts – Dorothy Summers, Etoria Leaphart and Wilhelmina Kirby; one uncle – John Kirby; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
