Mr. Ernest C. Scott, Jr., 71, was born May 14, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York. He was the oldest of five sons born to the late Alvernie Scott and the late Ernest Scott, Sr. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Pruitt Health of Columbia in Columbia, South Carolina.
Ernest and his four brothers were raised in the Catholic faith. After graduating from George Westinghouse Technical High School, Brooklyn, New York in 1966, Ernest enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt as an Electrician. In that same year, he met the love of his life, Emma Nesmith. After serving four years in the Navy, they were married in 1971. To this union, two daughters were born.
Ernest was employed by the New York Metropolitan Transit Authority and retired after twenty-six years of service. He was an avid reader and a loyal friend.
He was preceded in death by both parents and a daughter, Ginger Marie Scott.
Ernest leaves to cherish his precious memories: a loving wife – Emma Nesmith Scott of the home; one daughter and son-in-law – Alverneq H. and Michael C. Simpkins of North Augusta, South Carolina; two grandsons – Michael D. Simpkins and Joshua C. Simpkins, both of North Augusta, South Carolina; four brothers – Kenneth M. (Carolyn) Scott of North Carolina, Marion P. (Bridgette, aka Billy) Scott of Texas, James P. Scott of Minnesota and Preston V. (Viola) Scott of North Carolina; four brothers-in-law – Clyde Nesmith of Columbia, South Carolina; Colus (Tamera) Nesmith and William (Lavert) Nesmith, both of New York and Gregory (Marshell) Nesmith of Florence, South Carolina; one sister-in-law – Patricia Diane Boucaud of Pueblo, Colorado; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many sorrowing friends who will miss him dearly.
