Staff Sergeant (SSG Ret.) Mario Calice, 66, was born January 14, 1953 in Haiti. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at his home at 128 West Hampton Street, Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina. He was married to Caroline Calice.
SSG (Ret.) Calice was educated at the International High School in New York. After high school, he attended John Jay College, New York. He was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina.
SSG (Ret.) Calice was retired from the US Army. He was a member of the VFW and a member of Prince Hall Lodge Number 378. After retiring from the Army, he was employed by Michelin Tire Company until his recent retirement. He was also a disabled veteran.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Hantz Calice.
Those left to cherish his precious memories include: his loving wife – Caroline Calice of the home; two daughters – Rachel Calice and Tameka (Stephon) Hosendove-Johnson; three sons – Lavar Cragam, Howard (Kelly) McClellan and Tony (Stephanie) McClellan; brothers and sisters – Vilvalex (Jessie) Calice, Argentine Calice, Margory (Edward) Cherilus, Ivena (Gerald) Andre, Natasha (Alexander) Franklin, Michelle Gesner, Harry Calice, Naudy (Diana) Pierre, Christo Calice, Ramial Calice and Tony Calice; brothers-n-law – George Fennell, D.L. Mears and James Gantt; sisters-in-law – Laura Fennell, Shirley Mears and Linda Thomas; cousins – Jocelyn Williams, Maggie, Elizabeth Francois; a very special friend – Myron Tims; eleven grandchildren, twenty-three nieces & nephews, other cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
