Ruby Staley Obituary

MRS. RUBY LEE STALEY, peacefully answered the call from God on Tuesday afternoon at the Lexington Medical Center to come on home and take your rest.  She knew that in her Father’s house there were many mansions and there was one prepared for her.

Ruby was born in Aiken County, Wagener, South Carolina, May 27, 1945.  She was the daughter of the late Gus and Marion Reed Brown.  She attended Wagener Salley High School.

At a young age she joined the Zion Hill Baptist Church, Salley, South Carolina. After relocating to Gilbert, South Carolina she then began attending the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church and later years demonstrated her love for Christ by renewing her covenant and joined the church.

Ruby was one who enjoyed cooking and feeding people.  She owned a restaurant in Ridge Spring, South Carolina for a number of years.  She was a Chef and made the best chicken/turkey dressing and potato pies.  After cooking and serving people she would just sit and watch you eat and be ready to assist you any way she could.  One of her hobbies was fishing.  “To know Ruby was to LOVE her.  She always carried a big smile.”

Those who preceded her in death, a husband, Jasper Staley, Sr., four sisters  and  nine brothers, and a special daughter/friend, Eileen Geiger.

Left to cherish her memory:  A companion of 39 years, Charles Anderson, Sr.; four daughters, Theresa (Donell) Staley of Johnston, South Carolina, Yvonne Staley of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina,  Sabrina (Willie) Brannon of Johnston, South Carolina  Rebecca Staley of Aiken, South Carolina; three sons, Jasper (Vera) Staley of Johnston, South Carolina, Charles Jr. (Mona) Anderson of Ridge Spring, South Carolina and Tyrie (Stacy) Anderson Lexington, South Carolina;  a granddaughter that was raised in the home and was her care-giver, Shanta Staley; step-sister, Rebecca Staley; two sisters, Yvonne Briggs and Margaret Gantt, both of Aiken, South Carolina; a brother, Clarence Brown of Aiken, South Carolina;  two sisters–in-law, Marian Brown of Aiken, South Carolina and Dorothy Brown of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; sixteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
