Mr. Willie Henry Lytes, Sr., 78, son of the late Boysie Lytes, Sr. and the late Alberta Davis Lytes, was born June 21, 1940 in Lexington County, South Carolina. He was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at his home in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina.
Mr. Lytes was educated in the public schools of Lexington County, attending Twin City High School in Batesburg-Leesville. At an early age, he joined Saint John CME Church where he was very active in his church roles. He was a member of New Spirits and the Male Chorus. He was employed by Columbia Farms, then Oswalt Lumber for over 30 years until his retirement.
Mr. Lytes was preceded in death by both of his parents and brothers Roosevelt, Bennie Lee, Boysie Jr. and Roy Lester Lytes; two sisters, Daffinese Lytes and Bertha Mae Wise; and one son, Darryl Williams.
Those left to celebrate his life and cherish his memories include: his wife – Willie Mae Lytes of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; five daughters – Sharon Lytes and Sandra (Jessie) Pixley, both of Lexington, South Carolina, Willie Jean Lytes of Lexington, South Carolina, Dana Miller and Cheryl Corley, both of Virginia; six sons – Tyrone Lytes, John Corley, Allen Pickens, James Pickens and Joseph Lytes, all of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina and Willie Henry Lytes, Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina; ten granddaughters – Heaven Jones, Sandreka Pixley, Quinesha Corley, Tyesha Lewie, Brittney Brannon, Ashley Rowe, Shelby Coleman and Shell Jay, all of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina, Jazz Williams of Aiken, South Carolina and Jaylen Redmon of Columbia, South Carolina; six grandsons – Tyrese Green and Shaun Corley, both of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina, Al Walker and Tony Walker, both of Lexignton, South Carolina, Dontavious Lytes and Jordan Lytes, both of Aiken, South Carolina; one brother-in-law – Frank Wise of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; one sister-in-law – Barbara Ann Jeffcoat of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends who will miss him dearly.
