Anayla Charmayne Smith, 12, was the daughter of Chaka Nanta Brunson and the late Marcus Alexander Smith. Born January 8, 2009 in Lexington County, South Carolina, she departed this earthly life on Saturday, March 13, 2021.
Anayla was a 6th grade student at JET Middle School, Edgefield County, South Carolina. Anayla’s future goal was to become a veterinarian and to attend culinary school. Anayla loved her family, attending church, painting and animals. She had a very special relationship with her loving grandmother, Ms. Janie Brunson. Anayla was very kindhearted; she loved giving gifts and hugs to family and friends. She never met a stranger and loved making friends. Anayla had a kind and loving spirit.
Anayla was preceded in death by her father, Marcus Alexander Smith; her aunt, Annie Griffin and her uncle, Johnny Fuller, Jr.
Those left to cherish her precious memories include: a loving mother and sister – Chaka Nanta Brunson and Amaya Aariana Cullum of Johnston, South Carolina; a grandmother – Janie Brunson of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; paternal grandmother — Betty Ann Smith; grandfathers — Johnny Fuller, Sr. and Connell Brunson; one great-uncle – James “Dooley” Brunson, Jr. of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; two aunts – Jafeeka (Tyrone) Fuller of Lexington, South Carolina and Deloris (Jr.) Fuller of West Columbia, South Carolina; five special cousins – Semaj Fuller and Georg’shia Fuller, both of Aiken, South Carolina, Ty’teAsia Roberts, Tyrone Roberts, Jr. and Zion Roberts, all of Lexington, South Carolina; a host of other sorrowing relatives, friends and classmates who will miss her dearly.
