Ms. Beatrice Summers, 93, daughter of the late George W. and Myrtle Wheeler Summers, was born October 5, 1927 in Gilbert, South Carolina. She peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, April 23, 2021 from her home in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina.
“Queen Bea”, as she was affectionately known, was educated in the Hollow Creek Schools of Gilbert, South Carolina. At an early age, she joined Good Hope CME Church, Gilbert, South Carolina. Ms. Beatrice was a Professional Seamstress/Tailor of the Garment Industry in Manhattan, New York. She sewed for the late James Brown and his band. She enjoyed sewing for her children and grandchildren. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed reading. After retiring, she worked in the home health field.
Ms. Beatrice was preceded in death by both parents; brothers, Herman Summers, Norman Summers And Hosea Summers; sisters, Mary Jane Dokes, Myrtle Page and Thessalonia Cook.
Those left to cherish her precious memories include: two loving daughters – Sandra S. (Robert) Johnson and Carmen Williams, both of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; one son – Bobby Summers of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren – Anthony Wilkins, Gregory Wilkins, Cassandra W. (Kenneth) Martin, Darryl Wilkins, Lachele Johnson, Bobby Summers, Jr., Melissa Clinkscales and Patricia Clinkscales; one sister – Yvonne Watson of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; special caregivers – Pam Hathcock, Barbara Smith and Shanta Merritt; thirteen great-grandchildren, fifteen great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends who will miss her wisdom and presence.
