BeverlyJean Newell was born on June 9, 1950 to the late Marjorie Wadlington in Queens, New York. She transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Lexington Medical Center, Lexington, South Carolina.
BeverlyJean lived in Queens, New York for 35 years and was a faithful member of Holy Unity Baptist Church where she sang on the adult choir. She was the youngest of her 4 brothers, Lawrence, Steven, Douglas and Barry. They were very protective of their baby sister. She moved to South Carolina in 1986 with her loving husband Daniel Newell, Jr. Beverlyjean was known to her friends as Bev or Beverly.
Beverly attended Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Batesburg-Leesville, Pastor Reverend Dr. Amos O. Harling, Jr. She sang on the mass choir for many years. Beverly also helped with the daycare center on Sunday’s and enjoyed the children very much. Beverly was an employee at Babcock Center for many years. She received her certified licensing in nursing, so she could be an excellent caregiver. She enjoyed helping others especially the mentally ill patients.
In her early years before her illness, Beverly liked cooking for her family and one of her children’s favorite dish was her potato salad. She enjoyed being a grandmother and made sure they all felt her love along with her children. Beverly was presently attending Chinquapin Baptist Church in Batesburg-Leesville, Apostle R.C. Ratliff, Sr. BeverlyJean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, church mother and friend.
BeverlyJean was preceded in death by her mother Marjorie Wadlington, a daughter, Juanita Newell, her grandmother, Lorraine Jordan, her two brothers, Lawrence Wadlington and Douglas Wadlington.
At the time of her departure, BeverlyJean Newell left to cherish her precious memories: her husband – Daniel Newell, Jr. of the home; four daughters – Linda Gaillard-Ward (Curtis) and Tina Gaillard, both of South Carolina; Marjorie Newell-Galloway (Sherrie) of Georgia and Joy Newell of Florida; two brothers – Steven Wadlington of Massachusetts and Barry Wadlington of New York; thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law – Yvonne Carson of Florida, Margaret Quattlebaum, Patricia Reid and Deborah Murray, all of South Carolina; brother-in-law – Michael Newell, South Carolina and a host of nieces and nephews.
