Mr. Buster Wayne Perry was the son of the late Mrs. Minnie Othel (Charles) Gortman and the late Mr. Jesse Tolen. He was born in Lexington County, South Carolina on March 24, 1962. He departed this earthly life to be with our Master on Saturday, September 4, 2021.
Mr. Perry was educated in Lexington County School District 3, graduating from Batesburg Leesville High School in 1981. He went on to earn an Associate of Arts in Drafting and Architectural Design from Aiken Technical College in 1984. He was last employed by Hitachi Rail where he worked for many years until his health began to fail.
Mr. Perry knew Jesus very well and served faithfully and dutifully at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Batesburg-Leesville. He served as Publisher where he enjoyed sharing his faith with others in the door-to-door ministry.
Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his grandfather who reared him from childhood, Mr. Odell Perry; his biological mother, Mrs. Minnie Othel Perry-Gortman and a sister, Mrs. Annie-Queen Perry Osby.
He leaves to cherish his many fond memories and love: a sister – Ms. Vickie LaNette Perry of Columbia, South Carolina; a brother – Mr. Charles (Chuck) Gortman of Columbia, South Carolina; two nephews – Mr. Thomas Vincent Perry of Columbia, South Carolina and Mr. Michael Christopher Osby of Lexington, South Carolina; one niece – Miss Jessica Hampton of Columbia, South Carolina; one uncle – Mr. Charlie L. (Gloria) Perry of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; special cousins – Mr. Benny G. Adams and Mr. Leon Peebles, both of Columbia, South Carolina; a special little sister – Ms. Sherry L. Corley of Lexington, South Carolina; as well as a host of other family, friends, classmates, coworkers and church members who loved him and enjoyed his spirited discussions.
