Ella Lue (Nickerson) Mendoza
Obituary
Ella Nickerson Mendoza, a resident of Atlanta, Georgia, transitioned to her eternal reward on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the age of 73. She was the youngest surviving daughter of the late Earl and Eloise Nickerson, born on October 30, 1948. She was educated at Twin City High School in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina.
She was married to Aeneas “Greg” Mendoza of Lexington, South Carolina on June 13, 1981. Together, they owned and operated D'Best Janitorial Company in Hampton, Virginia, where they lived for several years before returning to South Carolina.
Ella was preceded in death by her siblings - Earl Nickerson, Jr., Melvin Nickerson, JoAnn Nickerson Barton, Jimmy Nickerson, Pauline Nickerson, Clarence Nickerson, Bruce Nickerson, Michael Humphrey and one brother-in-law, John Mendoza.
Ella leaves to cherish her memory: her four daughters - Lisa Lopez (Steve) of Spartanburg, South Carolina; Michelle Canbuldu of Nashville, Tennessee, Maria Emery of Columbia, South Carolina and Cassandra (Malik Sr.) McCullers of San Diego, California; a special grandson – Giovanni (Alana) Emery of Nashville, Tennessee; her grandchildren – Shawn Beavers, Brianna Emery, Levail Beavers, Will (Melanie) Myrick, Justin Myrick, Nehemiah McCullers, Lamar McCullers, Aminah McCullers, Amir McCullers, Nasir McCullers, Hammad McCullers, Kamil McCullers, Nadia McCullers, Kamal McCullers, Tatiana McCullers, Malika McCullers, and Jamal McCullers; her great-grandchildren – Devonte Palmer, Aniyah Ella Emery, Jayceon Isaiah Washington, Kehlani "KK" Emery, and Leo Maier-Myrick; her three brothers – Willie (Margaret) Nickerson of Ward, South Carolina, Kent (Phyllis) Humphrey of Ridge Spring, South Carolina, Danny (Debra) Humphrey of Spartanburg, South Carolina; three sisters-in-law – Psyche Mendoza, Maisie Mendoza and Lyddy Mendoza; two brothers-in-law – Joy Mendoza and Ivan Mendoza; a whole host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
