On the afternoon of Monday, April 5, 2021, Deaconess Flossie Baston Simpkins peacefully transitioned from earth to glory. She was born August 7, 1926 in Edgefield County, South Carolina to the late Fletcher and Sallie Baston.
She entered into marital bliss with the late Bernice Simpkins on March 18, 1948. From this union, they begat three children: Willie, Charles and Johnny. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Barr-Hubbard and one son, David Corbitt.
At an early age, she joined the Shaw’s Creek Baptist Church, Edgefield County, South Carolina. Later, at the age of 10, she joined the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she was ordained as a Deaconess. After serving as a faithful employee of J.B. Martin Company of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina, she retired at the age of 74.
Those left to cherish her memory include: three loving sons – Willie Simpkins, Reverend Charles (Darlene) Simpkins and Johnny (Shirley) Simpkins; a granddaughter raised in the home – Cynthia Simpkins; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many sorrowing friends who will miss her dearly.
