Mr. James Johnson, Jr. was born May 28, 1938 to the late Viola Norris and James L. Johnson. On Saturday, September 9, 2023, God sent an angel to escort him to his heavenly home. He was married to the late Perry Lee Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was educated in the public schools of Lexington County, graduating from Twin-City High School, Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina. He joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully on the Trustee Board and the Brotherhood Ministry until his health began to decline.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by both of his parents and his wife; four sisters, Laura Belle Price, Ruthie Lee Matthews, Millie Morris and Claudia Keisler; five brothers, Roy Johnson, Nathan Hill, Charlie Johnson, Willie Johnson and Frank Wise.
Those left to cherish his memory and celebrate his life include: three daughters – Sharon Adams, Wendy Johnson and Delores Dennis, all of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; two sons – Ray Thomas of New Mexico and Daniel Dennis of South Congaree, South Carolina; four grandchildren – Bryanna Toole, Tylai, Tycaria and Dion Dennis, all of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; four sisters – Mary Lou Wise, Martha Smith and Lillian Davenport, all of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina and Betty Jean Medlin of Dillon, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law – Evanise Johnson and Deloris Johnson; one brother-in-law – Odell Whitt; a special friend – Lilly Vandyke; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many sorrowing friends who will miss him dearly.
