Joe Ben Robinson, Jr.

Joe Ben “Bob” Robinson was born on February 22, 1951 in Leesville, South Carolina to the late Mrs. Beatrice Jeffcoat Lewis and Mr. Joe Ben Robinson. Joe Ben “Bob” departed this life on Friday evening, March 4, 2022.

As a young child, Bob lived in Leesville, South Carolina with his mother Beatrice and their family the Jeffcoats. Beatrice Jeffcoat met and married Edward Lewis and they raised their son Bob together.  As their family grew, they welcomed 6 more children. Growing up in Batesburg on Basin Hill, King’s Row and Solomon Street, Bob was loved and well known by everyone, in a community where everyone was family.  Bob graduated from Twin City High School at the top of his class, in fact he was the Salutatorian, Class of 1968.  It’s also worth noting that Bob played football, running back, while in high school.  Bob achieved a 4-year academic scholarship and attended South Carolina State University, graduating the top of the Dean’s List with a Bachelors Degree in Business. While in college, he worked earning extra money driving sale cars for Rawls Auto Auction.  He also worked for the Pet Milk Company.  Bob worked as a supervisor at a landscaping company where he learned Spanish in Columbia, South Carolina until he retired Bob loved his family dearly and made many sacrifices for them.  Bob was not known to mince his words or worry about feelings.  But at his core, he was selfless, generous, loyal and a hard worker.  He took care and aided his sisters and brothers in every way that he could, He will truly be missed by his siblings and family.

He leaves to cherish his memories:  Robert B. (Carolyn) Lewis, Mary L. (Kent) Hunter, Zelma A. (Zack) Bowman, Bernadine (Ivan) Cartagena, James E. (Ursula) Lewis, Tommy (Annette) Jeffcoat; a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, great-nieces and nephews and 1 new great grandnephew, Everette. 

We will surely miss our beloved brother, our protector, our momma boy always telling us to do the right thing. The Nine
