Katie (Samuel) Robinson

Mrs. Katie Mae Samuel Robinson, the wife of Mr. Leroy Robinson, and the daughter of the late Lawson Samuel and Annie Lee Rikard Samuel, was born May 22, 1944 in Newberry County.  She departed this earthly life on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at her home.

Katie Mae attended the public schools of Newberry County, South Carolina.  She attended Midlands Technical College where she obtained her CDM.   She worked in Food Service as a Dietary Manager at LMC Extended Care, formerly Rikard Nursing Home.  She retired in 2010.

Katie Mae was a member of the St. Mark. Missionary Baptist Church, Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina.  She was Vice President of the Pastor’s Pulpit Aide.

“Ma Katie,” as she was affectionately known, loved shopping, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories:  her husband – Mr. Leroy Robinson; sisters – Kathy Brooks of Columbia, South Carolina, Henrietta Samuel and Phyllis Ann Ruff, both of Newberry, South Carolina; brothers – Lawson Samuel, Jr., Rodney Wise, both of Newberry, South Carolina and Kenneth (Jannie) Samuel of Prosperity, South Carolina; step-children – Mary Dozier, Sherman Robinson, Brian Robinson, both of Batesburg, South Carolina, Patshie (Herbert) Small of Lexington, South Carolina, Darryle Robinson of Wake Forest, North Carolina, Mark. Robinson of Morristown, Pennsylvania and Roy Robinson of Virginia; God-children – Katherine Etheridge, Jennifer Davis, Jessica Franklin-Lewis, Veronica Williams, Isaac Brooks, Frank. Fox, Keith Gartman and Michael Wilson; sisters-in-law – Barbara Samuel of Augusta, Georgia, Katherine Anne Samuel of Prosperity, South Carolina and Brenda Scott of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; two special families – the Rikards and Foxes; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved dearly.
