Richard Lee West

Richard Lee West, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo West, Sr. and Andrena Padgett West, was born on July 31, 1946 in Saluda County, South Carolina.  He departed this earthly life on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Lexington Medical Center Extended Care, Lexington, South Carolina.

He was married to the late Iletha McCrowre West, and they had two children, Loretta West and Richard Tyrone (Jewell) West, Jr.

Richard was educated in the public schools of Lexington County, South Carolina, graduating from Twin City High School, Class of 1966.  He was a member of Poplar Branch Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee.

In Richard’s earlier years, he served as a police officer for the Town of Batesburg-Leesville.  After leaving the police department, he became a self-employed painter.

He was preceded in death by his brother Lorenzo West, Jr.

Those left to cherish his precious memories are:  two sons, Ricky Norris of Lexington, South Carolina and Stevie Harris of Columbia, South Carolina; three daughters, Gresham Cannon of Lexington, South Carolina, Pamella Rowe and Ekesha Rowe, both of Aiken, South Carolina: twenty-five grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; five brothers, Major (Patricia) West, Larry (Louise) West, Sylvester (Sateria) West, Melvin West, all of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina and Joseph (Noreen) West of Columbia, South Carolina; one sister, Sylvia Hair of Columbia, South Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many sorrowing friends who will miss him dearly.
