Mr. Sylvester Leaphart, 61, son of the late James Herbert and Ellree Leaphart, was born June 4, 1958 in Prosperity, South Carolina. On Saturday, February 15, 2020 after an extended illness, he answered the Master’s call and left this earthly life at Lexington Medical Center, West Columbia, South Carolina.
Sylvester, affectionately known as “Zeak”, attended the public schools of Lexington County District 3. He was married to the late Gracie E. Leaphart.
Zeak was previously employed by a boat company in Lexington. He was surely a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He loved sports and he loved his family. He also loved to dance and listen to his old school music.
Zeak was predeceased by both of his parents, his wife and a brother.
Those left to cherish his precious memory include: his daughter – Jada Leaphart and grandson – Jakari Leaphart, both of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; four sisters – Laura Retha Leaphart, Diane Leaphart, Sylvia (Willie) Nelson, all of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina and Brenda (Ronald) Tolen of Evans, Georgia; two brothers – Alphonzo (Rosa) Leaphart of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina and Alphonso (Evon) Whitt of Columbia, South Carolina; mother-in-law – Helen Sumpter of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law – Eartha Etheredge and Cynthia Etheredge, both of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; four aunts – Julia Merritt, Celeste (Jimmy) Merritt, Lou Ella Gantt and Martha Smith; one uncle – albert Smith; a special friend – Judy; a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends, all of whom will miss “Zeak” dearly.
