Tesha Michelle Carter was born October 24, 1971, at Providence Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Mary D. Carter and the late Johnny Carter. She departed this life on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Lexington Medical Center, West Columbia, South Carolina.
Tesha was educated in the public schools of Lexington School District 3 and graduated from the Batesburg-Leesville High School, Class of 1990. She continued her educational studies by completing online classes to earn an Associate Degree.
Tesha was baptized at an early age and joined the Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina. Tesha worked faithfully in the church in many ministries including the Musical Choir and the Ravenel Chorus. Tesha loved children and later worked in the Church Nursery. Tesha, loved God and believed in the power of prayer. As Tesha faced health challenges, and wasn’t able to attend church, she never allowed her Faith to waver.
Tesha was a devoted, loving, and caring mother, daughter, sister, and friend.
Tesha was preceded in death by her son, Jabarri Carter; the love of her life, Richard Cannon; and her father, Johnny Carter.
Those left to cherish loving memories: her mother, Mary D. Carter of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; a son, Wesley James Carter of the home; a brother, Gregory E. (Monica) Carter of Columbia, South Carolina; a nephew, Daniel Carter; a niece, Skyla Sumpter; uncles, Rev. Charles W. (Jannette) Davenport and Daniel Carter, III; aunt, Janis (Eugene) Carter-Armstrong; God-children, Javonna Levels, John Levels, III and Jadon Levels and a host of family, friends, and loved ones who will miss her dearly.
